Little Planet Sun

Observation
Spherical or tiny-planet stereographic projection with the sun near the top of the dome, radial cloud smears sweeping around it, and a curved horizon of terrain at the base. The sun disc has a pronounced halo. Some tonal banding visible near the sun.
Interpretation
Novelty projection. Interesting once, and the tiny-planet treatment leans on the projection as much as on the light.
Technical
EXIF not read. Projection stitching is clean at the base. Sun halo shows clipping and slight fringing. Banding is faint but visible in the transition zone from bright sky to darker outer sky.
Composition
Sun off-center by design of the projection. Horizon curve is complete. Sky occupies most of the frame; terrain is a small ring at the base.
Creativity
Projection choice is the creative move.
Impact
Novel, but the novelty fades once the projection is identified.
Strengths
- Stereographic stitch is clean at the base
- Radial cloud streaks add motion
- Projection is executed correctly
Improvements
- The sun halo is clipped; a targeted highlight recovery, or an exposure blend from a darker frame, would tame it.
- The banding in the outer sky can be reduced by adding a small amount of dithered noise or by regenerating from higher bit-depth source frames.
